DeviceLab DL-IOT-GW Industrial RS485 to Ethernet / MQTT IoT Edge Gateway
The DeviceLab DL-IOT-GW is an industrial edge IoT gateway engineered to autonomously poll Modbus RS485 field instruments and publish telemetry directly to Cloud/On-Premise platforms via MQTT, HTTP REST API, or Modbus TCP. It features high-speed Multi-Master Caching (< 2ms) to eliminate bus contention, intuitive web-based RS485 bus diagnostics, 100,000-record Store & Forward offline buffering, and optional PoE power.
Key Technical Features:
- ✓ Modbus Multi-Master Caching (< 2ms) eliminates serial bus contention when SCADA, Cloud, and HMI poll simultaneously
- ✓ Automatic Modbus register-to-JSON serialization pushed directly to MQTT Brokers (TLS 1.2/1.3 encrypted)
- ✓ Built-in Web RS485 Bus Diagnostics: scans online Slave IDs, measures CRC error rates, detects polarity reversals
- ✓ Store & Forward offline buffer stores up to 100,000 records during outages, backfilling automatically upon reconnection
HARDWARE ARCHITECTURE & RELIABILITY
Key Technical Features
Engineered for extreme electromagnetic conditions in industrial control panels, substations, and smart facilities.
Modbus Multi-Master Caching (< 2ms Response)
Acts as an active Modbus Master polling field registers continuously into internal RAM. Multiple client systems (local SCADA + Cloud platform + operator HMI) query cached data concurrently with sub-2ms response without causing bus timeouts or colliding commands.
Native JSON & MQTT Cloud Telemetry Conversion
Translates raw Modbus registers into clean, human-readable JSON payloads, publishing directly to standard MQTT brokers (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, ThingsBoard, EMQX) or HTTP REST endpoints secured by TLS 1.2/1.3 encryption.
Integrated Web RS485 Bus Diagnostic Suite
Live graphical web interface inspects physical line health: lists active online Slave devices, tallies CRC/packet failure rates, warns of reversed A/B polarity, and auto-detects line baud rates.
Offline Data Resilience (Store & Forward Buffer)
Equipped with industrial Flash memory holding up to 100,000 timestamped measurement logs during network disruptions. Once WAN/LAN connectivity is restored, cached logs backfill automatically to the server without gaps.
Power over Ethernet (PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 0)
Available with integrated PoE, delivering power and bidirectional data over a single standard Ethernet cable. Minimizes wiring complexity and eliminates auxiliary power supplies inside electrical cabinets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Technical FAQs on DL-IOT-GW
Engineered for extreme electromagnetic conditions in industrial control panels, substations, and smart facilities.
How does the Multi-Master Caching feature work on the DL-IOT-GW?
The DL-IOT-GW actively polls Modbus RTU devices in the background and stores register values into internal RAM. When external masters (on-premise SCADA, cloud analytics, or operator touchscreens) query the gateway, it responds instantly (< 2ms) from cache without issuing redundant queries to the physical RS485 wire, completely eliminating collisions and timeouts.
Is measurement data preserved during network outages?
Yes. The gateway embeds an industrial non-volatile buffer running a Store & Forward mechanism. It stores up to 100,000 records tagged with hardware Real-Time Clock (RTC) timestamps. Once network connectivity returns, data is backfilled sequentially to the server without missing records.
Can the device send telemetry directly to Cloud MQTT brokers?
Yes. It contains an integrated MQTT client supporting TLS 1.2/1.3 and HTTP POST. It formats Modbus field data into structured JSON objects and publishes directly to AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, ThingsBoard, or private enterprise servers.
